Portrait Photographer in South Pasadena & Gulfport

Gulfport doesn't get the same attention as downtown St. Pete, and that's part of why I love shooting there. The locations feel quieter, more personal — less foot traffic means we can stay in a good spot when the light is exactly right, without navigating around crowds. Gulfport beach is my most consistent recommendation. The calm, protected water of Boca Ciega Bay means the surface stays glassy well into the evening, picking up color from the sky in a way that creates a warm, reflected glow under your subject's face. The small pier and the old pavilion give you layers and framing that most beach locations don't offer.

The Gulfport arts district along Shore Boulevard is worth knowing about for clients who want something with more personality. The colorful storefronts, the walkable waterfront, and the creative neighborhood energy give you a backdrop that feels specific to this place. I've done some of my favorite couples sessions in this area at dusk, when the restaurants light up, the foot traffic thins, and that particular golden-pink Florida light settles over everything.

Clam Bayou Nature Preserve, just north of Gulfport, is the option for clients who want something truly away from it all. The mangrove-lined waterways and open bayou give you a Florida that feels wild and quiet — tall grasses, still water, great blue herons moving through the frame. The light in the preserve in the late afternoon is exceptional, especially in fall and winter when it comes in low and warm. For maternity sessions where the setting should feel like part of the story, Clam Bayou delivers something neither the beach nor the city can.
